2015 4x4 Challenge
We took the two newest 4x4 half-ton entries, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel and the 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and matched them in a head-to-head competition specifically focused on their off-road prowess. The truth is, although they might look like they're taking different strategies, these two trucks have quite a bit in common.
Since we conducted our last off-road test, things have changed for Toyota and Ram: Toyota has created an all-new, more aggressive TRD Pro trim level for its Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runners, while Ram now offers a rugged and athletic Rebel.
We put these trucks through some grueling days in California's Death Valley. We tested them in sand drag races, checked out body flex and even calculated their mpg.

First our judges weighed in with their observations. Then we added those scores to the scores from our empirical testing; here's what we came up with. Which of these off-road beasts came out on top?
